About Me

I was born in Honolulu and raised in Nanakuli. After attending Nanaikapono Elementary, I transferred to Kamehameha Schools. My parents provided endless support to me throughout my education, especially during medical school. My mother was a registered nurse, and she showed me how to be a caring and compassionate caregiver. My sister was also an inspiration to me as she worked hard to achieve her dream of becoming a physician. She continues to model excellence and strength.

About my practice

During my childhood, I witnessed chronic diseases that disproportionately affected native Hawaiians, so I went into medicine in order to make a positive impact on the health of my community. Internal medicine appealed to me because I enjoy complex problem-solving and explaining diseases and treatments, and I chose primary care because I believe that preventive medicine is essential to improving health. I also like the long-term relationships I’m able to build with my patients.Lifelong learning is important to me. To stay current in my field, I use evidence-based resources and the latest research findings for my clinical questions. I also participate in continuing medical education programs and conferences. The Hawaii Permanente Medical Group shares my belief that preventive care can reduce sickness resulting from largely avoidable medical conditions, which is one of the reasons I was attracted to this practice. I also think the integrated systems here result in better coordination among providers and quick and easy access for members. Learning about my patients before tackling their medical issues allows me to individualize their care. I also want my patients to know about me in order to create a connection and build trust.

How I thrive

I enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming and biking. Spending time with family and friends keeps me happy and refreshed. I enjoy cooking, eating different types of food, and traveling. I recently went to Europe, and I look forward to other opportunities to travel.
