Everyone’s fertility journey is different. That’s why we tailor our high-quality reproductive services to your unique needs.
Your doctors seek to understand you as a whole person, providing individualized care to meet your needs throughout your treatment. You’ll work closely with a physician specialist and care team that may include obstetrics-gynecology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, or urology. Our specialists are fellowship trained, board-certified, or board-eligible.
Your care team follows evidence-based guidelines from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Urological Association, prioritizing patient safety and giving you the best chance for a healthy baby.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

Getting started with fertility care
Talk to your ob-gyn or care team about your plans to have a family, your fertility history, and any concerns you have. They can guide you to a specialist in reproductive endocrinology, fertility, or urology as needed. Most fertility services are available at a Kaiser Permanente facility. For some services, you may be referred to one of our contracted fertility providers.
Your care team may order fertility tests to help determine your treatment options. Tests can include:
- Pelvic exam and preconception counseling
- Hormone blood tests
- Imaging of reproductive organs (ultrasound)
- Imaging of the uterus (saline infusion sonogram)
- X-ray of the uterus and fallopian tubes (hysterosalpingogram)
- Semen analysis to check the number and quality of sperm
Understanding your fertility coverage
Your fertility care benefits depend on your health plan. Refer to your Evidence of Coverage (EOC) for a complete description of your coverage. If you have coverage through an employer, ask for a copy of your EOC. For additional questions, call Member Services.
