Where I practice
I was raised in Colorado and attended the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center for medical school. After training at the University of Virginia for anesthesiology residency, my husband and I decided to return to our roots in Colorado. The weather and the community here can't be beat!
About my practice
Anesthesiology allows me to focus on providing great care for one patient at a time. It’s often the little things that make a person feel cared for, and I strive to pay attention to my patients' needs and include you in the decision making regarding your anesthetic plans. I also want to make sure that your family is included and informed during what can be an anxiety-provoking experience for them as well. As a hospital-based physician, the Kaiser Permanente electronic medical record is my primary means for accessing information about a patient's past medical care and tests. It is an invaluable resource in helping me prepare in advance, since we usually don't meet patients until the actual day of the surgery or procedure. I practice anesthesiology with high expectations for the best possible medical outcome and the best possible experience for my patients. I especially enjoy the diverse procedural parts of my specialty, including nerve blocks and epidurals.
How I thrive
I've participated in many volunteer medical missions during my years with Kaiser Permanente, including trips to Guatemala with Common Hope and to the Philippines with Mending Faces. I find these opportunities to provide care to people who would not otherwise be able to afford surgical care to be extremely rewarding. These medical missions keep me motivated and inspired in my profession.
