Where I practice
I am originally from the rural Midwest. After college, I came to Colorado and loved it so much, I never left. Since making Colorado my home, I've done many things including working with homeless youth and families and children as part of the Colorado crisis system. Kaiser Permanente is a great place to work and be a member. It is an honor to be able to serve the people I see every day. I love helping people get through tough times, become stronger, recognize their own resiliency, have better relationships to themselves, and have better relationships to others. As a therapist and a person, I tend to be laidback, quiet, directive, and I am genuinely interested in learning about people. In every interaction, I strive to be my most authentic self and be fully present in the moment.
About my practice
My great passion in life is to serve others and help people heal. I believe you are the expert on you and that you have the innate tools and inner resiliency required to overcome any life stressors, traumas, and mental health challenges that come your way. A good therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for people to create change in their lives. I feel that my job as a therapist is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to guide and empower people.
I specialize in working with teens, families, young adults, and people who identify as LGBT. With my employment and education background as well as life experience, I understand the strengths and challenges of these populations. In session I take an active, strength based approach, drawing from a number of theories and techniques, and collaborate with my patients to identify and reach their goals. My goal is to provide the most appropriate care for my patients, so they aren't spending extra time or money to get the care they deserve.
How I thrive
I'm an avid snowboarder, mountain biker, rafter, runner, and climber. I also enjoy hiking with my two sweet dogs. When I'm not in the mountains, I enjoy cooking, gardening, building things, reading, playing guitar, and writing. All though I am active and outdoorsy, I am also an introvert and a little nerdy. I love graphic novels, music, podcasts, and films.
