Where I practice
I am a nurse practitioner in the Metabolic and Surgical Weight Management Department at Franklin Medical Offices in Denver. I am a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, with a certificate in plant-based nutrition from the Center for Nutrition Studies. Previously I worked in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente’s Lakewood Medical Offices. I obtained all three of my nursing degrees at the University of Colorado—BSN, MS nursing, and doctor of nursing practice—as well as a fellowship at the University of Colorado Division of Hospital Medicine in 2012. I am also a clinical faculty member at Regis University. I grew up in Wisconsin, but Colorado has been my home for more than 20 years because of my love for the outdoors, mountains, and people here. I am a devoted mother to 2 beautiful, accomplished daughters.
About my practice
An important part of my practice is listening to patients, hearing their stories and concerns. My philosophy is to formulate wellness plans that incorporate lifestyle changes that work directly to diminish disease states and improve overall health. Diet/nutrition, exercise, sleep quality and quantity, stress management, emotional and spiritual wellness all factor into our health. A large percentage of health care spending in the United States is associated with the treatment of conditions that can stem from unhealthy lifestyle choices. I find that most people want to live a life that supports wellness, however, they sometimes need extra support and guidance to achieve that goal.
How I thrive
To keep myself grounded in wellness, I exercise regularly, follow a mostly plant-based diet, and I enjoy spending time with friends and family. For peace of mind and self-care, I like to get outdoors as much as I can, as well as practice meditation and yoga. I love to read and am a member of two book clubs.
