I grew up in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio in a very close-knit Midwestern family. One summer in college I interned with a Family Physician in Grand Junction and discovered a passion for taking care of families and building long term relationships. After experiencing life in Colorado, I knew I would move to the state one day. I graduated from medical school at Ohio State (Go Bucks!), and then moved to Denver for my Family Medicine Residency training at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital. I am so thankful that I am lucky enough to practice medicine in this beautiful location. My husband, John, and I now live in Golden with our friendly Vizsla pup, Rico, and we just welcomed our first son, John Dante, in January 2009.
My passion is taking care of the whole family- babies, toddlers, school kids, teens, young families, middle age folks, and the elderly. I consider it such an amazing privilege to see my patients of all ages grow and change. My strength is listening to what the patient is really saying and being there for them- in good times and through the challenges of life. So much about one's health is more than a list of symptoms- it encompasses the past, life events, relationships, emotions, and family dynamics. I strive to learn about all aspects of the lives of my patients. I consider myself a partner and an educator of my patients to help guide their health care decisions.
I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends, outdoor adventures like hiking and snowboarding, and traveling internationally. Throughout my schooling, I have been able to take my education abroad and travel in many places, including Australia, New Zealand, India, Western Europe, Peru, Chile, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. I have become proficient in Spanish and enjoy the Spanish speaking families in my practice. I believe work-life balance is extremely important for all of us, so I try to practice what I preach.
