Where I practice
Being from a military family allowed me the opportunity to relocate often and meet new people. I’ve always had an interest in human behavior, regardless if it is medical or behavioral health. I completed my undergraduate degree California State University, Chico, and then was accepted into the doctorate program at the University of Denver, Graduate School of Professional Psychology. I completed my internship at Kaiser Permanente and decided that the interface between medical and behavioral health was important to me, and the care of my patients. The stability of not moving, having a close family and friend support group, and of being employed at a place where what I do makes a difference is beyond words.
About my practice
My career at Kaiser Permanente began in 2005; I was hired as a therapist at one of the behavioral health offices. My focus was working primarily with children and families, but I discovered a passion through the connection between medical and behavioral health. After six years of working in collaboration with patients to improve their quality of life, I decided to take a position as a Behavioral Medicine Specialist. As a Behavioral Medicine Specialist, located in the Westminster Primary Care Department, I only see patients for brief intervention and provide consultation to any patient who is referred. Although I no longer provide ongoing therapy, I enjoy providing skills to enhance people's lives and help them to fully thrive. Working in conjunction with medical staff allows us, as a team, to fully treat the whole person.
How I thrive
Working for Kaiser Permanente allows me to give to both the community and to individuals while still having time for my own health and balanced life. I volunteer for several community events each year, which includes a bike donation for children, providing consultation at community events, and book drives. In the winter months, I am an avid snowboarder and spend every weekend perfecting my skills on the hill and in the park. I ride my bike to work most days of the week and enjoy practicing Yoga, running, traveling, and spending time with both friends and family.
