Authorizations

The Outside Referral Department (ORD) coordinates and tracks authorized referrals for most services.

Referral Coordinators are responsible for:

• Processing and distributing the authorization document(s)
• Verifying the status of authorizations
• Acting as liaisons between the contracting provider and Kaiser Permanente physicians

Referral Coordinators may be reached by calling the telephone number provided on a member’s authorization documents.
