California Children’s Services (CCS)
 

The California Children’s Services (CCS) program is for children with certain physical impairments or chronic health conditions or diseases. CCS pays for certain medical services and equipment provided by approved specialists.

If your child qualifies, CCS may pay for or provide:

• Treatments such as doctor services, hospital, and surgical care. This can also include physical and occupational therapy, lab tests, and X-rays. This can also include orthopedic aids and medical equipment.
• Medical case management to help get special doctors and care for your child when medically required. This can also include referrals to other places like public health nursing and regional centers.
• The Medical Therapy Program (MTP) which provides physical and/or occupational therapy in public schools.

Your child may qualify if:

• They are under the age of 21
• They have or may have a covered medical condition
• They are a California resident
• The family’s adjusted gross income is less than $40,000 (as reported on the state tax form). Or, the out-of-pocket medical expenses for the child will exceed 20 percent of family income.
  • Family income is not a factor for children who:
    • Need diagnostic services to confirm a CCS qualified medical condition
    • Were adopted with a known CCS qualified medical condition
    • Are only seeking services through the MTP
    • Have full scope Medi-Cal with no cost share
