Atrophic vaginitis occurs when the lining of the vagina becomes
thin and fragile because of decreased estrogen levels, usually during and after
menopause. Symptoms include vaginal dryness, vaginal burning and irritation,
pain during sexual intercourse, and/or bleeding after sexual
