Kaiser Permanente provider
My gender: Female
Yes, my office is accepting new patients. May require referral.
I grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois, but have called Michigan home for the last several years prior to moving to Colorado. I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for college, followed by Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. I decided to move to Colorado after completing my residency training in the Detroit metro area for the more than 300 days a year of sunshine and the endless year-round outdoor activities the state has to offer. I chose to become a physician because the job uniquely allows me to combine my intellectual curiosity for the sciences, my natural gift of clear communication skills, and my strong desire to serve others.
I discovered my passion for internal medicine early on in my medical training. I enjoy the variety and complexity of the conditions diagnosed and treated within the field of internal medicine, and I enjoy simplifying these complexities using a language that is productive and easy to understand for my patients. Internal medicine is an involved team sport consisting of therapists, nurses, specialists and more, and I enjoy my role as the internist in being able to bring a clear, unified picture of a patient’s health and hospital stay to their bedside. I strive to treat each patient as if they were my own family member and to never lose sight of what a unique, tremendous responsibility each of my patients is entrusting to me in allowing me to be their physician. I am grateful to be a part of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group hospitalist team at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.
I thrive by staying physically active as much as I can. I enjoy all types of physical fitness including hiking, weight lifting, plyometrics and yoga. I have found that no matter what is going on in my life, getting my heart rate up with physical activity makes everything seem better or at least easier to handle. I also thrive through the relationships with my family and friends. My mother and father are the 2 most supportive and loving people I know, and they have instilled in me the great importance and value of family. On my time off from work, I will be hiking in the mountains, trying out new restaurants in town, traveling, and visiting my family at our lake home in western Michigan.
