Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page! I would like to share a little bit about my professional and personal life.
I am a native of Los Angeles and did my undergraduate training at UC Santa Cruz. I later moved to St. Louis for four years, where I attended medical school. I now reside in the North Hollywood area and really enjoy it. My last name, Kumar, is East Indian, as my father is from India. Unfortunately, I do not speak the language.
About my practice
I am a nephrologist, which means I treat patients with various types of kidney problems, including hypertension. I am especially interested in dialysis and serve as director of the Home Dialysis Program. Patients are taught to perform either peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis at home in this program. I encourage all dialysis patients to pursue home dialysis. I am very open and honest with my patients, and I like to think that I am always available to respond to phone or e-mails to my office for questions or concerns.
How I thrive
Since I have a busy practice, time is rather limited. I enjoy hiking, bike riding, cooking, and reading, and I love to travel. I have been all over the world. I was an exchange student in Denmark in 1979 and spent an entire year living with a Danish family on a pig farm! This was where I learned to speak Danish. I have two dogs (Australian Shepherds) that I adore and one son who is currently in college studying mathematics.
