Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I am glad to have this chance to introduce myself to you and to tell you about my practice. I am fortunate to be a physician at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful patients and the caring staff I work with. I look forward to taking care of your health.
I was born and raised in India. I came to the United States in 1974. I completed my training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and I worked there as a staff member before moving to California in 1986. I joined UC San Diego as a faculty member at the department of child psychiatry for four years, before joining Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in 1990.
About my practice
I specialize in the practice of child and adolescent psychiatry. I work with other therapists as a team member to assist families in understanding their child's behavior and emotional problems, and how to handle them. I see patients for diagnostic evaluations and medication management. I provide regular follow-up for medication management and to evaluate the progress. I believe that working with parents and engaging families in counseling and education is equally important and as helpful as using medication in the treatment of children and adolescents.
How I thrive
I thrive by keeping a good balance between busy practice and good health through exercise and yoga. I believe in regular use of exercise to keep our bodies and our minds in good health. I thrive by learning something new every day, sometimes from the children that I see, from the parents I talk to, and from my colleagues. I thrive by stimulating my mind with this new knowledge and making use of it in my practice when appropriate. I also thrive by finding satisfaction in taking care of patients who are challenging and in need of help. This is why I chose to be a doctor in the first place. Most of all, it is important for me to help my patients thrive!
