Where I practice
Hello, my name is Samantha Cohen. Welcome to my Web page. It is wonderful to have a chance to introduce myself to you. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my practice as a physician at Kaiser Permanente. I hope the information here helps you to get to know me better.
I was born in South Africa and moved to California with my family at the age of 3. I love living in California and have been blessed to experience living in both Northern and Southern California. For medical school, I ventured out of California and attended the Medical College of Wisconsin. My love of pediatrics started there. I returned to California for my pediatric residency at UC San Diego. After residency, I worked as a general pediatrician for a few years before returning to fellowship to pursue a career in developmental behavioral pediatrics. My fellowship training was at the UC Davis MIND Institute, which was an incredible and inspiring place to learn how to best support the developmental and behavioral needs of members. I feel very fortunate to be back in San Diego as a Kaiser Permanente physician in the John Richards Development Center.
About my practice
In my practice, I enjoy working with children and their families to optimize developmental and behavioral health so that each child can develop his or her full potential. I also enjoy working with the multidisciplinary team to care for members. Preventive care is important to me. I encourage members and their parents to participate in preventive healthcare including vaccinations, early exposure to books and reading, and healthy living practices (eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and practicing mindfulness and exercise).
How I thrive
I live well by doing yoga, practicing mindfulness, and spending time in nature (hiking, walking, or running) with my family.
