Hello and welcome! I am a hospitalist at the Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center and at Palomar Medical Center.
I graduated from Stanford University Medical School in 1977. I trained in internal medicine and psychiatry after medical school. I’m board certified in internal medicine and am a member of the American College of Physicians. I take my work very seriously. I particularly appreciate the opportunity to get to know patients as individuals. I am continually amazed at the life experiences others have had and believe that understanding that each patient is an individual is essential to providing high-quality care.
I spend all of my time admitting patients to the hospital and taking care of patients who are hospitalized. I work with a group of about 14 physicians. We have close working relationships with our patients’ primary care providers and strive to offer a seamless transition of care between the doctor’s office and the hospital. I strive to maintain the highest standards of care and am constantly looking for ways to improve.
I relieve stress and maintain fitness by long-distance running. I have run 25 or so races of 100 miles or more, usually in the mountains. Rowing is enjoyable as is cross-training. I’m an avid reader and greatly enjoy chess as a hobby. Classical music and jazz have enriched my leisure time. Most importantly, however, my two wonderful sons and my wife of over 30 years refuel me.
