Welcome to my Web page. I want to take this opportunity to tell you about my clinical practice as well as my work as a physician and administrator.
I grew up in Southern California and hoped to become a physician from a very young age. I have one brother and one sister, and my parents still live in the Los Angeles area. I grew up near the beach, which led to a lifelong love of the ocean. When I was growing up, I liked surfing and scuba diving as well as sailing with my family. I also learned to horseback ride and ski, and I still enjoy skiing with my family. I went to UCLA for my undergraduate degree in bacteriology and then earned my medical degree at UC Irvine. I moved to San Diego after completing my residency and fellowship training, and then I joined Kaiser Permanente. I met my husband here, and we enjoy the wonderful quality of life in San Diego with our children.
I work with other maternal-fetal medicine specialists as well as a midwife, all who specialize in high-risk obstetric patients, and we understand your concerns regarding the medical care for you and your baby. We also have special nurse educators who work as part of our team, offering education on hypertension, diabetes, and preterm birth prevention. I have been in practice in maternal-fetal medicine in San Diego since 1989. I have worked as a leader with our Southern California group of perinatologists since 2000, and have served as regional perinatal coordinator since 2005.
I believe life should be balanced between work and family. As a working mother, I understand the challenges of staying available for my children and husband as well as my patients and colleagues. I've found that swimming and elliptical workouts are good outlets for any extra energy I have.
