Where I practice
Hello, and thank you for visiting my Web page! It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to introduce myself and let you know a little bit about me. I feel very fortunate to be working at Kaiser Permanente with wonderful colleagues and patients, where we can offer you the best-possible care. I want to help you ensure that your children grow up happy and healthy.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from UC Irvine. After graduation, I received a Rotary Ambassador of Goodwill scholarship to study at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England, and lived in England for a two years. I met my husband there, and we returned to the United States. I attended medical school at the University of Maryland at Baltimore and completed my residency in Pediatrics at L.A. County+USC Medical Center. I have been practicing pediatrics since 2000. I started my career in Pediatrics working within the Los Angeles County healthcare system, practicing at various clinics in Los Angeles serving a mostly Spanish- speaking population, and also cared for patients in the Los Angeles County juvenile system for two years. I then moved to the San Fernando Valley in 2002 to work in a private practice for the following five years. I started working for Kaiser Permanente in January 2007. I am married and a proud mother of two beautiful girls and one handsome boy with whom I spend most of my free time.
About my practice
As a pediatrician I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to prevent disease, encourage a healthy lifestyle and have a positive influence on a child's life. I strive to do these things through education and encouragement. I believe that good communication is the key to any relationship and this applies to the relationship between a pediatrician and their patients as well. My experience as a parent has definitely helped me to be a better pediatrician. I understand how being a parent is very difficult yet so rewarding and am grateful to have the chance to take care of other children as well. With the help of my incredible colleagues in the Pediatric Department, we will strive to give you the best possible care. I am fluent in Spanish, and welcome English and Spanish speaking families into my practice.
How I thrive
When I am not working I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy dancing, and started dancing at almost three years old. Since starting a family, I have studied Brazilian, Polynesian, Latin and Belly dance. I am a passionate samba dancer, and twice weekly participate in Latin dance classes. I am an avid reader, often reading two or three books at any given time. I love to travel with my family. I love to talk to everyone, and I have a good ear for languages, speaking Spanish fluently and some Portuguese, and wish to learn Italian, French, and continue to excel in Spanish and Portuguese so I can use these languages in my travels some day!
