Where I practice
Hello, and welcome to my Web page.
I was born in Vietnam and came to the United States in 1975. I did my undergraduate and medical studies at the University of California - San Diego. After completing my residency training in Los Angeles, I joined Kaiser Permanente's West Los Angeles Medical Center in 1989. In 1991 I moved to the Whittier Medical Office, where I have been working ever since. I have been married to my wife, Anh, for 28 years. We have 2 sons, Andrew and Timmy. My wife worked as a professor at University of Southern California Dental School for 10 years before she took a similar position at the University of Pennsylvania since 2 years ago . Before I went to college, I never thought about having a career in medicine. I majored in chemical engineering in college, but after my junior year, I started to realize that a medical career would better suit my personality and passion. I love the work, challenge, and reward that a medical career can provide. I made the decision to go to medical school instead of working as a chemical engineer after I graduated. After 25 years working as a physician, I feel this is the best decision I have made in my life.
About my practice
I feel honored and fortunate to have medicine as my career. It gives me the opportunity to connect with and help people in a meaningful way through medical knowledge and compassion. At the Whittier Medical Office, I am supported by a health care team that includes my nurse, medical assistant, and a clinical pharmacist and social worker . Together, we strive to provide care for patients in an efficient and comprehensive way. The Internet and other new technologies enable me to communicate more effectively with patients and deliver better care.
How I thrive
I love to travel and play tennis, but had to stop tennis in 2005 due to an ankle injury. I started taking music lessons and have found a new passion in it. I play bass guitar, and together with my friends have formed a band that sometimes performs at weddings and charity events.
