About me
I am pleased to provide patients with relevant information about myself.
Biography
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and majored in chemistry at Arizona State University. After attending the Keck School of Medicine at USC, I interned at UC San Diego Medical Center. I completed an internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Recently I earned a master's degree in anthropology at San Diego State University. I entered the field of gastroenterology because of my interest in talking with patients, the scientific aspects of the specialty, and the potential to help patients deal with serious problems.
About my practice
The Gastroenterology Department in which I work has grown to more than 50 practitioners, nurses, and other staff at our three sites: San Diego Medical Center, Otay Mesa Outpatient Medical Center, and San Marcos Outpatient Medical Center. I am proud of the professional dedication of our staff. We have a busy schedule caring for patients in the clinic as well as in the hospital, and much of our effort involves endoscopic procedures that have both diagnostic and therapeutic usefulness.
How I thrive
Clinical research, publishing research papers, reviewing manuscripts for journal editors, and working with professional organizations have broadened my medical life. I am a volunteer examiner for Survivors of Torture, International in San Diego and enjoy exercise, travel, reading fiction and nonfiction, cooking, and spending time with my wife and our golden retriever.
