Where I practice
Hello, and welcome to my Web page. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my practice. I am a geriatrician in the Continuing Care Services Department in sunny San Diego. My primary duties are to take care of patients at skilled nursing facilities.
My mother was a trauma surgical nurse so my interest in medicine started very early. During my family practice residency, one patient (a retired nurse) in the nursing home told me I should become a geriatrician. She taught me so much about life as well as end of life. She was so right. I cannot imagine myself doing any other job. My husband and I love to travel, learn about different cultures, and explore different cuisines. My other joys are baking and reading.
About my practice
My team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, nurses, and support staff. Geriatric medicine is medically and socially complex, so I work in collaboration with many colleagues who are specially trained in their fields. This way, our patients can receive the best care possible. I strive always to treat my patients how I would want my parents and family to be treated.
How I thrive
I really enjoy my job. I feel privileged to have a job where I constantly learn from my patients as they share their life experience and wisdom. My patients teach me to balance my work and personal life. None of them have said they wished they could have spent more time at work. I walk and swim to keep physically fit, I read New York Times daily to keep up with what is going on in the world, and I laugh a lot (thanks to my husband and coworkers) to keep my spirits up. I count my blessings every day.
