About me
Welcome to my Web page. I’d like to share some information about myself and my practice.
Biography
I was born and raised in a small town in Tennessee. I moved to Los Angeles in 1981 to pursue postgraduate training in psychiatry and have lived here ever since. I first became interested in becoming a physician while in high school. I made my decision to practice medicine after working as a nursing assistant in college. This experience showed me how rewarding it can be to help others in times of illness. In medical school, I found that I was particularly interested in the emotional aspects of illness; this led to my decision to become a psychiatrist.
About my practice
It is clear to me that good medical care requires physicians and their patients to work together. I strive for a collaborative relationship with my patients based on mutual trust. I try to provide as much information as I can, and I involve my patients in decisions about their treatment. Without compromising treatment, I try to be as flexible as possible when developing treatment plans. Because I understand how anxiety-provoking it can be to see a physician, I work to promote a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere in my sessions.
How I thrive
I have been practicing tai chi since 1977. I also have been practicing meditation and chi kung for several years. I incorporate exercise into my daily routine, which helps me stay fit despite a busy schedule.
