Where I practice
Hello! I am the perinatologist, which means I provide care for complicated or high-risk pregnancies. I specialize in pregnancies in which there may be a medical problem such as diabetes, hypertension, or kidney disease in the mother and in cases in which the fetus needs special attention. A patient would also see me if a high-level ultrasound of the fetus is needed.
I originally come from New York City but moved to Los Angeles a little over 30 years ago to do my residency. I found that I loved obstetrics and gynecology and wanted to do obstetrics exclusively, so I followed my four-year residency with a fellowship in perinatology. After that, I became a faculty member at the UCLA School of Medicine. I joined Kaiser Permanente about 24 years ago and have enjoyed my work immensely. If I won the lottery today, I would still continue to work full-time!
About my practice
My team consists of my medical assistant, my nurse practitioner/diabetes specialist, and myself. We also make full use of the Genetics and Radiology departments. For our diabetic patients, we have a health educator, a nutritionist, and a social worker. We try to make it more convenient for the patient to receive most of what she needs in one visit. The members of my team are very friendly and helpful and aim to decrease patients’ stress levels.
How I thrive
I thrive by loving my work. Someone once said that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life, and it’s true! I have the support of my wife, who is also a physician, and my teenage son. Church is an important part of my life, as are my leisure activities.
