Welcome to my Web page. I’m glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about my practice. I am committed to providing high-quality care to my members.
I’ve been interested in the brain and human behavior since before starting medical school. I initially finished a diagnostic radiology residency and started a neuroradiology fellowship in my country of origin—Venezuela—but I soon realized I really wanted to go into psychiatry. I moved to New York City for my psychiatric residency, and then subspecialty training in the management of psychiatric problems in patients with medical conditions. I also completed training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the New York Medical College Psychoanalytic Institute.
Modern medical treatment is not only about providing the right medications, but also about using techniques to help improve overall health. Management of stress, good sleep hygiene, and good eating habits, as well as physical exercise are just as important to improve and prevent health problems. That requires a continuous collaboration between members, doctors, and, more often than not, therapists. I often tell my members that I’m their coach, and in that capacity, I’ll provide information for them to improve their conditions and answer their questions. The key words in my practice are collaboration and prevention.
Physical exercise, a healthy diet, and love from family and friends, are the best ways to nurture your spirit.
