Hello. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as a physician and as a physician administrator at Kaiser Permanente.
I was born in Hong Kong and came to this beautiful country as a child. When I was young, I knew that I wanted to be a doctor so that I could make a real difference in people's lives, and practicing medicine gives that opportunity. I have been an anesthesiologist for more than 19 years. I started my Kaiser Permanente career in 1999 and was in private practice before then. Just recently, I transitioned into my administrative role as the chief of the anesthesia department for Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center. I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente both as a clinician and as an administrator.
We use the team approach to anesthesia care here at San Diego Medical Center. The team members are the physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetists. So for every surgery, there will be two pairs of eyes, ears, and hands to watch and take care of you.
I firmly believe in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy about the health and well-being of the whole person, and try to live it in my life every day. My family life is my major priority. Keeping balance in my life is also very important to me.
