Where I practice
Welcome to my Web page. I am glad to have this chance to introduce myself to you and to tell you about my practice. I am a pulmonary/critical care internist, and have been in practice since 1976. My practice is limited to pulmonary diseases, and I am also involved in critical care unit as an intensivist.
I was born in the western Indian state of Gujarat and moved to the United States in 1971 to pursue post- medical school training. I completed my pulmonary fellowship at the University of Illinois hospital and joined Kaiser Permanente Medical group in August 1976. I have seen my small division grow from one physician (me) to seven physicians over the last 31 years.
About my practice
I do believe that healthy living and preventive care are the best ways to stay healthy. I firmly believe in exercise on a regular basis. I am also here to help you when you are sick. I see patients with a variety of chest diseases, from asthma to lung transplants. Pulmonary physicians like me work with other team members such as pulmonary lab, respiratory therapy, bronchoscopy personnel, and thoracic surgeons. Our division also runs a weekly working chest conference, wherein informal discussion takes place with other members of the team to discuss complex issues of care or particular clinical situations. This discussion keeps everyone up-to-date in their approach to diagnosis and treatment.
How I thrive
Because of my great interest in gastronomic adventures, even though I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, I try to remain fit through regular exercise almost daily. I like to run, bike, hike, snow and water ski, and travel. I enjoy traveling to nearby and far-away exotic travel destinations.
