Hello! I am happy to introduce myself and share with you a little about myself and how I practice medicine with Kaiser Permanente. I am honored to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente team and look forward to having an opportunity to share with you all of the wonderful things we have to offer you here in Kern County. I particularly like living in Kern County because of its valley, mountain, and desert areas, and I enjoy working in the community atmosphere that it offers.
I was born in Mexico and grew up in beautiful Southern California. At a very young age, I decided to become a doctor, at first to understand what was going on with my body after having an infection, so that I could take care of myself. A few years later, I confirmed my calling after seeing my grandfather going in and out of the hospital and eventually dying in an intensive care unit. Before his death, I promised I would become the best doctor I could be to help others like him. Every day I strive to better educate myself to keep my promise.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in the summer of 2017 as a palliative care physician. I attended the University of Guadalajara in Mexico for medical school and did my residency in family medicine in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and fellowship training at Miami VA Health Care System and Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in Florida. My special interests are promoting healthy aging and cancer pain management. I chose geriatrics/palliative and hospice medicine because they give me the opportunity to improve members’ quality of life. I also wanted to focus on members’ families, which I do in my practice, assisted by my team of nurses and social workers.
I am able to keep balance in my life by staying mentally and physically active. As I grow older, my hobbies have evolved with me, but they revolve around staying active, whether mentally or physically, and motivating my family to stay active as well. I am blessed to have a family that is very supportive in my life goals.
