Welcome to my Web page. I hope it will let you get to know me a bit. My work as a physician is very important to me, and I try my best to make my members' experience fulfilling.
I was born and raised in San Diego. I grew up in the house that my mom still lives in. In high school, I volunteered at a women's health clinic. During that time, I observed a Cesarean section performed by a family friend who was a physician at Kaiser Permanente. These two experiences, along with my love of biology and physiology, confirmed that I wanted to be an obstetrician/gynecologist. I have a wonderful husband, a beautiful stepdaughter, and a fabulous young son. Our family enjoys traveling in our motorhome throughout the western United States. We also spend a lot of time participating in Cub Scouts and watching my son play sports.
I enjoy getting to know members, and try to address their physical and emotional health. An obstetric or gynecologic exam can be a stressful experience for a lot of women, especially their very first exam. I really try to help make it a more relaxing experience. Many physicians, myself included, can get burned out over time if they are not careful. I avoid this by creating a mutually satisfying experience in caring for my members’ overall health.
I definitely spend a lot of thought and time taking care of my physical and spiritual health, along with that of my family. We eat very healthfully. I eat a plant-based diet and my husband and son eat a mostly vegetarian diet (except when we dine out and my husband goes for the pork chops!). I like to read about good nutrition and think it is essential to good health. I am currently training to run half marathons. My goal is to run a full marathon when I turn 50. I take care of my mind by reading The New York Times every day at lunch. I also love to read novels and nonfiction. I take care of my spirit by attending church, and, at times, I have been active in meditating. I also enjoy spending time with friends camping at the beach, in the mountains, or in the desert.
