Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. The quality of care and attention to preventative medicine are the values that attracted me to Kaiser Permanente Medical group in 1980. I have been working as a family physician at the Huntington Beach Medical Center for 27 years. Several of my present patients are people I have cared for throughout this time. I consider them my friends and their well-being is a top priority.
Although born in the United States, I spent my first six years in Mexico. Spanish was my first language. I chose the field of medicine because helping others is very satisfying and fulfilling. I have been married for 28 years and have three grown sons. I enjoy starting the day with a half-hour of yoga and meditation. My other interests are gardening, minor home improvements, exercising, and spending time in the sun. I have been fortunate to volunteer on two medical missions to Central America in the aftermath of Hurricane Mich.
Preventative care is by far the most important aspect of our practice. Although you may present with a cold or an ingrown toenail, we feel that it is very important to review your records at every visit. This may consist of reviewing your blood pressure, weight, social habits, and amount of weekly exercise, updating your vaccinations, or screening for treatable illnesses. We are also here for the long haul. I will do an initial evaluation of your symptoms and concerns, review subsequent lab results, respond to your inquires, follow up if you are not feeling well, and refer you to specialists when indicated. Throughout this process, I consider it my duty to be your advocate and be responsible for your ultimate care.
I am also a Kaiser Permanente patient and I need to stay well, have periodic exams, and follow a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Doing all this is a challenge. I appreciate the demands we all experience in this society.
