About Me

Hello, my name is Dr. Walter Burstein and I welcome you to my Web page.

Biography

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and I came to the United States in 1971. At that time, my parents—like most immigrants—were looking for a better life for themselves and a better future for me and my brothers (I am the middle son of three boys). Through the years and experiences with my family, I have learned the importance of a strong family unit and work ethic. I became interested in science early on during school and found soon enough that I was interested in becoming a physician. Because of my closely-knit family and my interest in medicine, I felt that being a family doctor was an ideal specialty for me.

About my practice

I enjoy taking care of people of all ages from birth all the way through their golden years. I have been a Kaiser Permanente physician since 1999 and previous to that I worked at Buenaventura Medical Group for eight years. I am located at the Kaiser Permanente Oxnard Medical Offices and work with a very bright group of physicians. I prefer dealing with issues of health early on in order to try to avoid late complications. This obviously requires cooperation from my patients and their willingness to take care of themselves with a good diet, exercise, and avoidance of smoking and excess alcohol consumption.

How I thrive

I love to play tennis and try to stay in good shape with the limited time I have. I had coached my kids in AYSO soccer and had done some refereeing as well. Though at this time, since my kids are in college, I have finished coaching and mostly just follow my favorite soccer teams. I also enjoy playing a good game of chess with a friend or family members.
