About Me

I was born and raised on Maui. After graduating from high school, I lived on the U.S. Mainland and Oahu for 18 years before returning home to Maui. I attended medical school at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) and I have enjoyed practicing with Kaiser Permanente Hawaii since 2004.

About my practice

I always enjoyed the sciences in school and had an affinity for people of all ages, which made medicine an attractive career choice for me. My father was a family medicine physician and always had a very positive impact on the decisions I have made in school and in life. I was exposed early on to the expert medical skills he used to practice medicine, and the art and compassion with which he delivered care to his patients. When it came time for me to select a medical specialty, I didn’t waiver; I knew that I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps to study and practice family medicine. I really enjoy caring for families across a wide spectrum of ages, from newborns to our kupuna (elders), and I am honored to make a positive impact on the health of multiple generations of the families I care for. In addition to my practice, I serve as the clinic chief of the Kihei and Lahaina Clinics on Maui. I also act as a clinical preceptor for the Family Medicine Department at JABSOM. I am thankful for the support and camaraderie we have within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG). We work consistently as a team, I have easy access to specialists when I need it, and our collective focus on preventive medicine allows all of us to provide the highest quality of care possible to our patients. In addition, we have great support staff (everything from patient support services to breast care and more) and HPMG provides positive, lifelong development opportunities so we can grow, learn and improve care together. It is important to me in my practice to care for the whole person, not just the illness. I feel fortunate that in our close-knit local community I am able to see my patients in and out of the clinic; I like to maintain positive relations with my patients and their families. To ensure that I am always delivering the highest level of clinical care, I use a combination of family visits, well child care, office procedures and patient education because everyone responds differently.

How I thrive

I am blessed with a wonderful husband and children who support me in my work and who keep me balanced with laughter regularly. I do make sure that I take care of my own health and get my regular check-ups with my own primary care physician. I love to spend any time I can on family activities. Our children keep me and my husband hopping and we definitely know how to have a good time together!
