About Me
Welcome to my Web page. I hope you will get to know me a little more after this visit. I have been a Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center physician in the department of pediatrics since 1989. I absolutely enjoy working here!
Biography
I studied medicine in Mumbai, India. After coming to the United States for pediatric training, I was drawn to the newborn care and neonatal intensive care of premature infants. Following my fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, I worked in a large neonatal intensive care unit for three years. Then I joined Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center, and I have been here ever since. I enjoy reading books, nature, hiking in canyons, and walking on the beach with my husband. I also like to travel to experience different cultures. I love spending time with my family, my two sons, and my family in India, whom we visit regularly. My older son is an internal medicine physician at UCLA, and my younger son is a business major who worked as a consultant for two years, and is now persuing his interest in the acting.
About my practice
I was the director of the neonatal intensive care unit at Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center for eight years. Now I am the director of the neonatal intensive care nursery at the Ontario Medical Center. I am also involved in regional projects to constantly improve care of our babies. The neonatal intensive care unit is a home away from home for me. We have a very attentive team of health care providers who support the whole family throughout the hospitalization of their infant. We offer daily updates from physicians, care conferences, breast-feeding encouragement, and kangaroo care. We also guide families into working with our team. We understand how stressful it is for parents of an infant experiencing illness, and we try to provide an sympathetic and understanding environment, along with high-quality medical care for the baby.
How I thrive
I believe in the motto, "My health, my responsibility.” I try to walk or use a treadmill at least three or four times a week. I am so glad that Kaiser Permanente also encourages their members to live healthy lives. Having a balance in my work and my family life is very important to me. I enjoy working full time, but my time at home is special, and spent with my family and friends.
