I was born and raised in Plymouth, Michigan. From a very young age I was drawn to the Islands, and after many visits I moved here permanently. My two grown sons are now off making their own lives on the Mainland.
The opportunity to help change people’s lives led me to choose a career in the medical arena. The broad range of issues patients present make the acute care setting a fascinating and challenging place – there is never a dull moment in my day.To stay current on developments in my field, I read professional periodicals and journals, attend conferences and lectures, and maintain membership in the American Academy of Physician Assistants.I was attracted to the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) because of its reputation as an ideal organization in which to practice. I had heard only good things about HPMG, including how well they treat their employees and how patient-focused the care is. My own philosophy of care is to provide the tools and knowledge to allow patients to make the best decisions they can support their own health and well-being.To connect with my patients I always try to find common ground. I think it is important to speak plainly and directly and to listen with empathy.
In my spare time I like to mountain bike, run, compete in multi-discipline races, and weight train. I also enjoy good food, good friends, and hiking with my dog Petee on this beautiful island!
