About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I'm pleased to introduce myself to you, and to provide some detailed information about myself and my practice at Kaiser Permanente.

Biography

My wife and I are radiologists. She was finishing her fellowship in Philadelphia when we were contacted by Kaiser Permanente in San Diego about positions that were available for our two subspecialties. We had not considered moving to California, but the prospect of being able to work together was too enticing to pass up. We came for an interview, were offered positions on the spot, and could not be happier with our decision. The weather is much nicer, too!

About my practice

Before training to be an interventional radiologist, I completed two years of residency in general surgery and two years of practice as an emergency medicine physician. I find that this additional training and experience helps me to understand the concerns and needs of both the referring physician and the patient. Interventional radiology allows me to combine the two fields of medicine that I love the most — surgery and radiology. Our interventional radiology team feels like a family. I have never worked with a more dedicated, professional, and caring group of people.

How I thrive

I believe that it is vital for a person to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Too much of any one thing may be detrimental to a person's physical or emotional health. I watch my diet and exercise regularly. Also, I like to combine activities that require both mental and physical skills such as sailing, photography, scuba diving, skiing, and travel. I have explored the remote tribal regions of Southern Ethiopia with friends from the National Geographic Society. Also, I have served as a test pilot for an experimental manned research submarine off the Northern coast of California and in the Gulf of Aqaba, Jordan. In 2013, I was honored by being inducted into the Explorers Club in New York City.
