About Me

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. We moved to Hawaii, where I trained in plastic surgery, to escape the long winters of the Northeast. Hawaii has been a wonderful place to start a career and raise a family. My wife is a nurse practitioner and teaches at the University of Hawaii. I have two beautiful children who love to play outside and go to the beach.

About my practice

My mother, a nurse anesthetist, influenced my decision to go into medicine. I saw the joy and satisfaction that she received from her work.In high school and in medical school, I had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala on several occasions with medical teams providing surgical care to the underserved. During these trips I was able to observe and work with plastic surgeons treating children with cleft lips and palates, as well as other children and adults with burn injuries and traumatic deformities. These experiences helped guide me to a career in plastic surgery. Our aim at the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group is to provide the best patient care possible. I find it is easy to pick up the phone, walk down the hall, or send a message through our electronic medical records system to make sure that an optimal treatment plan is arranged. From the first consultation through surgery and follow-up, I take the time to get to know my patients. I enjoy the happiness patients experience after surgery, whether it be following breast reconstruction after a mastectomy for breast cancer, a parent’s joy following the repair of their child's cleft lip, or the pleasure of a rejuvenated self-image after an aesthetic surgery procedure. I am board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

How I thrive

I do my best to get exercise when I can and to eat well. Most of my time away from work is spent with my family. We like going for bike rides and spending time at the beach. I enjoy an occasional round of golf.
