About Me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I'm Dr. Cardenas. I'm very happy to be at Kaiser Permanente, and I look forward to working together with you to care for your health.

Biography

My mother is from Costa Rica and my father from Mexico. I was born in Los Angeles but grew up in Mexico; I returned to the U.S. when I was 15. As an adolescent psychiatrist who as a child was raised in a bilingual, bicultural environment, it is very important to me that I treat my patients who are immigrants with dignity and respect. I strive to be an advocate for my patients. I want to assist and make a difference especially for those who suffer emotionally from complex social and cultural challenges. Helping children to have a brighter future is my goal and my passion.

About my practice

I was trained by leaders in the field including Dr. Sucheta Connolly, Dr. Mani Pavuluri, Dr. Ed Cook and Dr. Diane Misch, among others, In my practice I try to emulate their wonderful lessons and work as a team with therapists, nurse, colleagues, and staff to help patients reach their highest potential.

How I thrive

Balance is key. I enjoy sports, music, movies, and traveling. I love learning about other cultures, spending time with my family and friends. I’m a strong believer in love, peace and science. I really enjoyed the movie “Life of Pi.”
