About Me

Welcome to my Web page, and thank you for taking the time to find out more about me.

Biography

I was born in Indio, California, in the blistering August heat of the area near Palm Springs. I grew up on a grape and grapefruit farm in that desert and remember days when I was just hoping for a cool breeze. Being a doctor was never a dream of mine until I attended college at UC Irvine and met a professor who nudged me toward medicine. Despite protests from my mom about my leaving California, I attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. There I met many special people who encouraged me to become a pediatrician. I married my husband in the first year of my pediatric training and we now have two children who have grown up to be young adults. I enjoy all kinds of arts and crafts, as well as gymnastics, football, and diving.

About my practice

I love interacting with young minds. I love how children think and how they express themselves. I think I laugh every day about something my patients say or do. Pediatrics is a specialty that attracts a different kind of person. You will find many others in my office who feel the same way about the babies, young children, and teens we see.

How I thrive

I think keeping healthy is just a matter of realizing that life is a process. Many processes succeed because we weave habits into our lifestyle. It's not a diet, it's how I eat. It's not exercise or a workout, it's what I do. I have Pap tests and mammograms partly for my own sake, to be sure I am healthy, but mostly for the sake of my family.
