About Me

Hello, my name is James “Jim” Hammond, OD. I grew up in Ridgecrest/China Lake , California. I have lived in Southern California all of my life.

Biography

My father was a dentist, but my optometrist convinced me that I should become an optometrist since I've worn glasses and contact lenses all my life. So I pursued a career in optometry. I am also a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve and am flight commander, optometry for the 452 Aerospace Medicine Squadron at March Air Reserve Base in California.

About my practice

I practice general optometry and have been in practice for more than 30 years. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1997. At Kaiser Permanente, we feature some of the latest in diagnostic equipment, which helps us ensure your ocular health . I enjoy working with my colleagues, who are top-notch professionals.

How I thrive

Since I am also a Kaiser Permanente member, I believe in the “Thrive” philosophy and participate in the exercise and nutritional programs that Kaiser Permanente offers to its members. These programs help me maintain my fitness for my Air Force physical fitness requirements. I enjoy history, model railroading, and building model airplanes.
