About Me

Namaste! Thank you for visiting my Web page. My name is Nitin Dhamija, and I practice anesthesiology, interventional pain medicine, and clinical informatics. I welcome you to read about my background, education, credentials, and approach to delivering high-quality healthcare at Kaiser Permanente.

Biography

I was born and raised in India and immigrated to the US when I was a teenager. I completed my undergraduate study, medical education, and residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain medicine at UCLA. In 2013, I began my career as an anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist serving Kaiser Permanente’s vibrant Inland Empire community. A few years later, I joined a team of highly innovative physician leaders who practice clinical informatics. Clinical informatics is a field of medicine that uses information science, computer science, and healthcare data to evaluate, develop, and manage technology and information systems to improve patient and community health, optimize healthcare delivery, and facilitate clinical research.

About my practice

As an anesthesiologist, I work to ensure safety, comfort, and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgeries or procedures. I work closely with surgeons to develop personalized anesthetic care plans, carefully select and administer medications, continuously monitor vital signs and other clinical data, and adjust anesthesia levels as necessary. After the surgery or procedure, I partner with nursing staff to ensure safe and comfortable recovery of patients.

As a pain medicine specialist, I strive to provide safe and effective treatment options for those who are experiencing acute or chronic pain conditions. To accomplish this, I offer a range of procedures, such as trigger point injections, joint and bursa injections, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablations, sympathetic blocks, and other advanced therapies. Using these treatments, I aim to provide pain relief and help patients achieve long-term functional restoration.

As a clinical informatician, I focus on design, implementation, and management of computerized tools that support physicians and other healthcare professionals in making decisions that are patient centered and based on evidence and current research. I also leverage data analytics to identify areas for improvement, evaluate healthcare processes, and develop strategies to optimize patient care and outcomes.

How I thrive

I thrive by embracing a plant-based diet, practicing meditation and yoga, traveling with my family, and participating in volunteer medical missions, both locally and internationally.
