About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your personal physician, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and patients, and I look forward to working with you to care for your health.

Biography

I was born and raised in North County San Diego, and I received my undergraduate degree from UC San Diego. I moved to the Midwest to attend medical school at the University of Iowa. I completed my residency in general surgery at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, followed by a year of fellowship/specialty training in bariatric surgery and minimially invasive surgery at UC San Francisco. After 12 years of being away from San Diego, my family and I were eager to return to my hometown.

About my practice

Our Kaiser Permanente surgery group’s philosophy is that medicine is a unique opportunity to connect and help people in a meaningful way, utilizing medical skills and knowledge, but also listening and responding to what patients need. I feel very honored that patients have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them in a manner that aligns with this philosophy. My practice is a broad-based general surgical practice, including hernias, gallbladder, acute care emergencies, and gastrointestinal, colon, breast and skin cancers. In addition, I have specialty training and experience in minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery, which includes bariatric, solid organ, foregut, and colon surgery.

How I thrive

I believe in Kaiser Permanente's emphasis on the well being of the whole person, and I try to thrive emotionally and physically every day. Family is a major priority in my life; I enjoy spending time with my wife and our children. In addition, I enjoy surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, snowboarding, growing/training bonsai trees, and traveling.
