About Me

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my Web page. It's nice to have this chance to tell you about my practice and myself. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and our members, and I look forward to working with you to care for your health.

I was born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States when I was just 7 years old. I graduated from Pomona College in 1988 and received my medical degree from UC San Diego in 1992. I completed a general surgery internship at UC San Diego in 1993 and completed my neurosurgical residency at USC in 2000. I then completed a fellowship from 2000 to 2001. I’m currently the assistant chief of neurosurgery. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001 and practiced in Orange County for three years. Between 2004 and 2006, I was in private practice at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. I then returned to Orange County in 2006. I’m a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

About my practice

I have an interest and expertise in endoscopy, and minimally invasive brain and spine surgery.

How I thrive

I’ve participated in medical missions to New Orleans, Ecuador, Mexico, Cambodia, West Africa, the Middle East, North Korea, and the Philippines. I also enjoy deep-sea fishing and spending time with my family.
