About Me

I grew up in Indiana, and frankly, I had no plans of leaving early on. I did my undergraduate, medical school and residency training all at Indiana University. It wasn't until I became interested in my current area of practice that I decided to see other parts of the country. This led me to 3 years in Charleston, South Carolina, followed by my move here to Colorado for more training and the rest of my career. Now I'm here to stay. I have been fortunate to ultimately find myself in my current practice here with Kaiser Permanente. I have a great team that keeps me engaged and grounded. I have the complete autonomy to practice medicine in a way that allows me to really connect with the people for whom I provide care. I wouldn't practice medicine anywhere else. I was honored to be recognized as a 5280 Magazine Top Doctor in 2019.

About my practice

My philosophy regarding medical care is centered on an informed conversation with the person in front of me. I do my best to make complicated medical conditions easy to understand. When it comes to how to address the situation I always keep your quality of life at the forefront. These days we can do a lot of things medically, however there are trade-offs that need to be taken into consideration. I hope to communicate your options clearly to you and answer your questions so that you have the ability to make a decision that fits your wants and needs. The great thing about practicing medicine is that you never stop learning, both about how this field changes and how you learn to know and understand other people. It is a real privilege to be in this line of work.

How I thrive

Work-life balance is really important to me. I've been blessed with a great wife and family. They are certainly my rock. Aside from spending time with them, I enjoy being outside (no matter what form that takes), fishing, and puttering around in the garden.
