Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to be able to introduce myself and share my credentials with you. It is important for you to feel comfortable with your personal physician, and I hope this page will allow you to get to know me a little better.
I was born in Ecuador and immigrated into the United States in 1968. My mother and I first lived in New York City for two years, and in 1970 we moved to California. I received a bachelor's degree in Public Health at UCLA in 1984. I was very fortunate to attend medical school at the UCLA School of Medicine and obtained my medical degree in 1987. Soon after my graduation, I began my residency in family medicine practice at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. It was a wonderful experience and the training was excellent! The next important step in my career was to become a staff physician at Kaiser Permanente, a position I have held since 1990.
I devote a great deal of my time to preventive care and health evaluation. However, I am here for you when you are ill and will be your partner in health to get you better. Our team has a great group of nurses who will assist me in taking the best possible care of you.
Keeping balance in life is very important to me. Decreasing your daily stress is crucial to your health and can be achieved by exercising, following a healthy diet, and participating in activities that you find enjoyable. I love my job but also enjoy spending quality time with my family. I love to watch my daughters play soccer and be the team doctor who handles minor injuries when needed. I also enjoy going to my beginner's yoga class once a week because it helps me reduce my stress. Listening to music, whether it is Latin salsa or the sounds of the 80s, is also a fun way to spend my free time.
