I was born in Hilo, Hawaii, and grew up in Kaneohe. My father was a school teacher, my mother was a school secretary, and I had two older brothers.
I knew that I wanted to choose a career that would allow me to help people. Through a serendipitous chain of events, I found a niche I liked as an optometrist. At the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I appreciate the fact that I don't have to deal with extraneous factors and responsibilities such as insurance, human resources, taxes, and government regulations. My philosophy of care is to look out for my patients’ best interests at all times. I find that I truly enjoy getting to know my patients.
In my spare time, I try to practice and play golf as much as possible. I watch history, nature, and cooking channels on TV, and hope to learn to be a better cook. I also enjoy gardening and travel.
