About Me

Welcome to my Web page. I’m glad to have this opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. I know how important it is for people to feel comfortable with their physicians, and I hope this page is a good start.

Biography

I grew up in Colorado and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. I’ve always enjoyed an active, outdoor lifestyle. I moved to Southern California to attend medical school. I chose to study ophthalmology because of the tremendous opportunity to preserve and restore the gift of sight. I especially enjoy helping children. So, following my residency training at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute, I completed additional fellowship training at UCLA in pediatric ophthalmology.

About my practice

My practice is focused on helping our youngest members, and it’s exceptionally rewarding. Approximately 1 in 20 children may require the specialized medical expertise of a pediatric ophthalmologist to avoid permanent loss of vision. Pediatric ophthalmologists have medical and surgical training, and specialize in the eye problems of children. Vision develops in the brain until a child is about 9 years old, and can be affected by eyes that are not straight or do not focus correctly. A child can grow up with good vision in each eye if these problems are caught early and treated. I specialize in the following treatments and conditions—cataract surgery, eye muscle surgery for misaligned eyes (strabismus), surgery for blocked tear ducts, eyelid and dermoid surgery, laser surgery for premature babies, lazy eye (including glasses, patching, and dilating drops), inflammation inside the eye (iritis) from arthritis and other conditions, repair of eye injuries, and eye infections.

How I thrive

Keeping balance in my life is very important to me. I enjoy exploring the great outdoors by hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. I also enjoy relaxing with a good book and spending time with friends and family.
