About Me

I graduated with a masters in social work from University of Michigan. I am passionate about integrated care and approaching from a whole person health perspective. I believe strongly in coming from a place of understanding with each patient and hear their voice in defining what is functioning well in their lives and the areas that are more challenging. Helping a patient look at what natural talents/strengths can be drawn from to help in the areas of their lives that are more difficult and bring joy back to their lives.

About my practice

A Behavior Medicine Specialist (BMS) is a licensed psychologist or licensed clinical social worker who works in the medical office alongside primary care physicians to support your total health. Having behavioral health support in primary care is a unique service available at Kaiser Permanente medical offices. You won’t have to schedule a separate behavioral health visit simply to ask questions and determine what you might need. If you need specialty care, your behavior medicine specialist or primary care physician will discuss this with you and help you get connected to the services that are best for you. The role of the BMS varies depending on your individual needs. In general, the BMS can screen for mental health and substance use issues, provide short-term appointments to reduce symptoms which may be causing you distress and improve your daily functioning. They are also a great resource to connect you with appropriate services if you need more specialized services, and they will help to coordinate your care so your primary care team members and specialty care providers are working together to provide your care. In many cases, a few brief appointments with a BMS in your primary care medical office is all that is required, but if longer-term services are needed, the BMS can assist with scheduling an appointment in a specialty behavioral health clinic.

How I thrive

I enjoy adventuring with my 4 children and husband whether that is participating in a family run, volunteering for races, or cheering on my kids as they run their races. My husband and I are passionate about giving back and have organized our own charity race to give back to our community.
