Welcome to my Web page. I am a board certified general surgeon with additional experience in general thoracic surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. I have been practicing at Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center since 1997, and also at the Ontario Medical Center since 2009. I also occasionally work at the Riverside Medical Center when needed.
I was born in Owerri, the capital of Imo State in Nigeria. Growing up, I knew that I wanted to be a physician, in part because of the compassionate care I received for a soccer injury in high school. I was intrigued by the way he made sick people get better, and I shared this with my parents, who then encouraged me to become a missionary doctor. I had no idea what this meant, but I knew that I wanted to be able to make a real difference in people's lives. In addition to my work at Kaiser Permanente Ontario Medical Center, I am an assistant clinical professor of Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. I was the president of the American Cancer Society, California Division in 2012.
Communication is an important part of my practice. I feel honored that members have entrusted me with their care, and I strive to treat them as I would my own family. I am pleased to be able to help people with my surgical skills, both at Kaiser Permanente and during the numerous international and local medical missions on which I have volunteered. My work philosophy is to provide the best possible care, regardless of the scarcity or abundance of resources where I may find myself, and to do so with a personal touch.
Keeping balance in my life is very important to me. My family and I volunteer for annual trips to different parts of the world, providing free health care to the poor and underprivileged, especially in Nigeria. I am an avid soccer player. I currently play in a men's league and also coach my kids in the American Youth Soccer Organization and Upward Sports. I enjoy weightlifting and plan to take golf lessons soon. I make it a priority to set aside time to just relax with my wife and children, listen to music, and occasionally read a good novel. For spiritual wellness, I like to read spiritual works, meditate, and pray.
