About Me

I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii.

About my practice

I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. As a child I devoured books about going to the hospital and the emergency room. I took the blood pressure of every stuffed animal I owned. To me there was something magical about helping a sick person become well. As I grew older, I wanted to help people protect their health, which I realized was one of the most important things in life.

As a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco, I worked with women and children who had never seen a doctor and who could have benefitted immensely from simple health interventions that were not available to them. This experience has made me infinitely thankful to have ready access to exceptional medical care and to have the opportunity of providing this to my patients.

To keep up-to-date with the latest research in my field, I read professional journals and professional articles online. Being part of Hawaii Permanente Medical Group provides me ready access to a range of skilled specialists. While I strongly believe in preventive care, when illness is already present, I appreciate being able to consult with my colleagues. I’m then able to present recommendations to my patients and assist them in choosing the best treatment for their individual situations.

My patients are the reason I come to work every day. I love talking with them and learning about their lives and their families. Helping my patients with their medical problems, no matter how big or small, makes every day worthwhile.

How I thrive

I enjoy walking my dog, hiking, and working out. I also love reading, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
