I was born into a military family in Gainesville, Texas. My family and I moved often when I was a child, until we finally settled in Oklahoma (while my father was serving in Vietnam). I first came to Maui for vacation and immediately fell in love with the island’s cultural diversity and warm sense of aloha. Upon returning to the U.S. Mainland, I began searching for a job in Hawaii, and six months later I moved to Maui and never looked back.
About my practice
My longtime fascination with math and science drove me to be the first in my family to pursue a college education and degree. I really enjoyed my undergraduate studies and experiences, and was lucky enough to meet medical students who encouraged me to seriously consider a career in medicine. During medical school, one influential teacher was a psychiatrist who made learning fun, while exposing me to the different aspects of medicine. My interest in human behavior grew so much that I decided to specialize in psychiatry. I enjoy working in a small clinic setting with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because of the collegiality and teamwork among the physicians and medical staff. I also appreciate the collaboration and support, which helps provide consistent and high quality patient care.
How I thrive
I stay healthy by taking advantage of Hawaii’s beautiful outdoor environment by snorkeling and golfing. Music and playing the guitar keep me relaxed. Traveling, going to the beach and being a handyman around the house are also some of my hobbies.
