Where I practice
I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My interest in biology, science, and the amazing ability of the human body to heal itself drew me to medicine. I spent my residency at Oregon Health & Science University and was excited about Portland the first day I stepped foot here. I worked in a migrant community clinic for five years prior to coming to Kaiser Permanente. My husband is from the Northwest and we had our two sons here.
About my practice
I became a family medicine physician because of the comprehensive and preventive approach to medicine. I love taking care of whole families, and believe knowing and understanding each member well provides better care for everyone. I view myself as a source of information to help my patients determine for themselves what is right for them. I believe prevention is the best method for good health and Kaiser Permanente creates a system that allows for streamlined primary care, allowing me to focus my energy on my patients' particular needs. Kaiser Permanente's comprehensive approach to care and use of up-to-date information that is disseminated throughout the Kaiser Permanente electronic medical records system and facilities is critical. I cannot imagine myself working in any other setting.
How I thrive
I love spending time with family and friends. We spend a lot of time outside, and go camping and river rafting anytime we can. I enjoy eating local fresh foods, and exercise regularly in order to feel good and continue to do the things I like. I practice yoga, go to a fitness class, and bike. Exploring and teaching my kids about the beauty of our world is my driving force.
