Where I practice
I was born and raised in California and went to medical school in New Orleans, where I completed my master’s in public health as well as my medical degree. I returned to residency in California, where I worked with farm workers and learned to speak medical Spanish. I moved to Oregon to work in a community health center. I married an Oregonian, and now we are raising our children here. My parents and grandmother moved to Oregon as well — so four generations of my family live here.
About my practice
Trained as a family physician, I see each patient within the context of their family or community, including family members, caregivers, friends, and whomever defines their community. I know that I must understand the patient's needs and who is helping them to meet those needs. As my patients have aged and my interests have become more focused, my practice has migrated from a true family practice to a more geriatric-focused practice. I am excited to provide team-based primary care to patients where they live. I enjoy helping patients and their families and caregivers navigate changes in health and care needs throughout the aging process. I enjoy working with diverse populations and different languages.
How I thrive
I thrive by spending time with my family, enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We also love to travel to where it is sunny and warm. I also thrive by being involved in my church community, volunteering my time here as well as traveling out of the country when there is opportunity. I enjoy cooking and baking with seasonal foods, reading with a good cup of coffee in front of the fire, and being an amateur bird watcher.
